Best Wedding Venues in the Hunter Valley 2023

As a Hunter Valley local wedding photographer, having captured hundreds of weddings, I have seen almost all of what the Hunter Valley currently has to offer. There are many factors that make a venue great for you as a couple; aesthetic, location, accomodation options, wet weather options, staff friendliness. In this list I have factored in these things, to give you a list where you won’t be disappointed.

Redleaf, Wollombi

Redleaf is a beautiful venue with a lot of character. The salmon walls add a warm and tasteful element to the day, and you have indoor and outdoor reception options. However if you score a nice day, the outdoor reception is second to none at Redleaf. The management staff are helpful and polite, and the upkeep on the property is very good.

The Woodhouse, Wollombi

Yes, Wollombi has the goods. The Woodhouse is a timeless location that is incredibly aesthetic. The venue itself as well as the large pond creates an oasis for a wedding. There is a calm and settled feel at the property, with great accomodation options.

Circa 1876

I had to put Circa 1876 in this list because you can’t go wrong. There is a great accomodation option next door at the Convent, and the Circa 1876 venue itself is beautiful and timeless. I have noticed that this is a great option for guests as the block is very flat compared to other wedding venues. It’s easy to navigate, and every wedding I have captured there has had an indoor reception, meaning you’re safe rain, hail or shine without any disappointment of what could have been.

Walka Water Works

I had to include the location where I got married. Walka Water Works is an amazing venue, yet it is owned by the council. This comes with pro’s and con’s. The pro’s being that it’s incredibly affordable, the con’s being that you need to do everything yourself, and will likely put that extra money towards hiring tables, chairs, couches, lights and fridges. We had a decent budget for our wedding, yet we still chose Walka Water Works because it’s such a unique venue. Note that the website isn’t the sexiest due to it being a council website, however I encourage you to dig through and even pay a visit as there are no gates.
